Kansas Jayhawks Basketball – A Sure Bet

Kansas Jayhawks

Death and taxes are the only two certainties in this world. Oh, and Kansas men’s basketball. The Jayhawks dynasty just rang up its 13th straight regular season Big 12 title. With Gonzaga’s loss to BYU in the Bulldogs final regular season game, Kansas is the new No. 1 team in the nation. Head coach Bill Self’s team will likely be a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament, where the Jayhawks will be making an incredible 27th straight appearance. Yes, death, taxes, and Kansas men’s basketball are sure bets.

The Kansas program is one of the most storied in history. The program is second in all-time wins in college basketball. The Jayhawks win games at a rate of 72 percent. Kansas has three national titles and even more impressive is the Jayhawks current streak of being ranked in the Top 25. Kansas has been ranked for 160 consecutive weeks, the most ever, has won more regular season conference titles (60) than any program in America, and has the most seasons (97) with a winning record. No men’s basketball program has had more consensus All-Americans (28) than Kansas.

The Jayhawks (26-3, 14-2) will close out the season with a home game against rival Oklahoma on Monday night and a Saturday night road game at Oklahoma State. Kansas has one of the best lineups in all of college basketball led by point guard and leading scorer Frank Mason III (20.2 ppg). Josh Jackson, a 6-8 freshman from Detroit, averages 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds a game and should be a lottery pick in this year’s NBA Draft. Can the Jayhawks win another NCAA title? There’s still plenty of basketball left to play, but a bet on Kansas is almost as sure as death and taxes.
